Unsub Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies specifically to Unsub, a Chrome extension that helps users process unsubscribe controls in Gmail's Manage subscriptions view.

Data Unsub handles

When the user starts Unsub, the extension processes information displayed in the active Gmail tab:

• sender names and email addresses shown in Gmail's Manage subscriptions rows;
• the subscription row text and unsubscribe controls needed to perform the requested action;
• temporary run information, including attempted sender identifiers, skipped sender labels, and request totals; and
• a temporary tab identifier flag used to resume a run after Gmail reloads.

Unsub does not read or store email message bodies, passwords, authentication credentials, payment information, health information, precise location, or general browsing history.

How the data is used

The information is used only to provide Unsub's user-facing function: identify subscription rows, activate Gmail's unsubscribe controls, avoid repeating rows during the same run, display progress, identify skipped rows for manual review, and resume after a Gmail page reload.

Storage and retention

Run information is stored locally in temporary browser session storage. It is not stored in a publisher-operated database. The reload flag is removed after Unsub resumes or when the tab closes. Other temporary run information remains only in that Gmail tab while the panel is open and is removed when the panel is closed or the relevant browser tab or session ends.

Data transmission and sharing

Unsub does not transmit Gmail content, sender information, run information, or personal data to the publisher or to analytics, advertising, or other third-party services. The extension contains no analytics or tracking code and makes no publisher-operated network requests.

When Unsub activates an unsubscribe control, Gmail and, where applicable, the sender's unsubscribe website process that action under their own terms and privacy policies. Unsub does not sell user data and does not use it for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or any purpose unrelated to its unsubscribe function.

Permissions

• activeTab: provides temporary access to the Gmail tab only after the user invokes Unsub.
• scripting: inserts Unsub's packaged interface and automation code into that Gmail tab.
• storage: stores the temporary reload flag needed to resume a run.

Security

Unsub limits processing to the active Gmail tab after a user action and requests no persistent Gmail host access. All executable code is included in the extension package; Unsub does not download or execute remote code.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if Unsub's functionality or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published.
